This is a well-thought-out article! That Darjeeling quote is staying with me - “I will never spill my tea.” Perfect way to put calm in chaos into words.

Sana this is such an amazing article, I love your writing style and how you articulate yourself. Like I said, you're the biggest tea lover I know🤣🤣 Felo has competition. I genuinely loved this article. It’s such a beautiful observation because tea in anime is something we often overlook, yet it carries so much meaning. Your mention of Death Note(I'm sure we know now how much I love this show) immediately stood out to me because those tea scenes almost feel like conversations within conversations. The tea itself becomes part of the tension, and somehow a simple cup can make a scene feel even more intense. Frieren also came to mind while reading this. The series does such a beautiful job of showing that the smallest moments can stay with us, and the quiet acts of sharing time with someone often end up meaning the most. Even Demon Slayer has moments where the ordinary feels important. In a story filled with so much pain, those peaceful moments remind us why we care about the characters in the first place. I think that’s what makes anime so incredible. Sometimes it’s not the huge moments we remember the most, but the small ones. A cup of tea, a conversation, someone choosing to sit with another person for a while. Somehow, anime has mastered making something so simple feel unforgettable. This was such a lovely read. I’ll definitely be paying more attention to tea scenes now because clearly they have been telling us something all along. ☕

Thank you for honouring my article with your time and attention, honestly reading your article well written article put a fire under my ass and prompted me to finish my article, you mentioning L reminded me that he was part of my article and I realised that there be at least one person who would truly enjoy reading the article, so I had to finish it and post, so that we can have this conversation, wish it was over tea but I’m glad it’s happening either way.

Also I wouldn’t say I’m anyone’s competition because I love tea in my own way and for reasons that differ from Felo’s and I think we could have great tea based/themed collaborations which is part of the reason why I love tea because it is brings people together, because tea is way better when it’s shared. That’s what I’ve learned in my tea studies and in my tea journey and the biggest reason I started my publication was to connect with other tea lovers and tea brands on Substack, because we all have something unique and beautiful to offer the tea loving communitea, which is way more important to me than out tea loving each other.

I have to check out the other anime series you mentioned they sound like good recommendations.

Big Big appreciation for mentioning Hyouge Mono! Amazing manga and amazing anime 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 (uncle Hiro as well 🌝🌝🌝)

It is the one anime that strictly speaking is about tea.

And Zuko’s uncle’s name is Iroh.

My phone corrected (wrongly) Iroh’s name 🙏🏻😂

I love those moments when Miyazaki’s characters are drinking tea. Everything suddenly feels calm, yet it also feels like something important is about to happen.

I love them too, adding those moments of tea is a great way to bring in presence and a pause to the story and I think that think those moments are the something important that’s happening.

This is awesome list. I love anime, but I don't know all of these. Now, I must watch them.

Your article took me on a journey. I can see behind the words the amount of preparation and gathering that occurred. *My career before retiring was 'librarian.' When works of anime became popular I always made sure we had them available. Now I occasionally substitute at the local public library (Iowa, USA), sometimes placing anime series on the shelves. These are very popular with patrons who check them out in quantity. I wonder how many of these readers will unconsciously find their tea connection and begin to emulate their favorite characters? *Tea. I think I'll steep a cup this afternoon.

Firstly thank you so much for honouring this article with your time and attention, I love that it took you on the same kind of journey I took while researching and writing it, I appreciate you sharing your experience with me and I wish that many readers do find their tea connection through their favourite charactors in their favourite manga too.

I hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea, what’s your favourite tea?

I will take my new insights with me to work today at the library *Two teas for me daily: Green with ginger (morning) and Rooibos blended with citrus and cinnamon (afternoon).

Keep up the good work.
